Department of Mathematics
At BCSD we understand that a comprehensive mathematics curriculum focuses on building students’ strength in the use of mathematical processes and math instruction in key areas incorporate the following practices:
- the use of mathematics to solve problems
- an application of logical reasoning to justify procedures and solutions
- an involvement in the design and analysis of multiple representations to learn, make connections among, and communicate about the ideas within and outside of mathematics
In our mathematics classes multiple strategies are taught and accepted for problem solving. Problems are posed and inquiry based learning, experimentation and investigation are the methods in which to reach the solutions.
