College Planning Calendar

11th/12th Grade

 

April – Summer

v     Attend Junior Information Night Program at Berlin High School

v     Register for and take the SAT’s or ACT’s if planning to apply to a 4-Year College

v     Visit college campuses

v     Complete resume of high school extracurricular activities, awards, and academic honors (sample resumes posted on website)

v     Athletes planning to try out for Division I or Division I teams complete the NCAA Clearinghouse form

 

August – October

v     Senior Interview with your guidance counselor!

v     Review Guidance Website and its ongoing information

v     Attend the HVCC College Fair and the SUNY Information Night

v     Sign up for Instant Admission Day for HVCC

v     Register for SAT’s on www.Collegeboard.com if retaking one last time

v     Ask teachers (at least 2) for written recommendations

 

November – December

v     Make it a goal to have all college applications completed by Thanksgiving

v     Call admissions offices or meet with recruiters to help with any last minute questions

 

January – Graduation

v     All college applications should be completed and already submitted!

v     Have mid-year grades sent out to colleges where you applied

v     Sign up for ASVAB testing if you wish to take them again

v     Most application decisions for colleges come in the mail by the end of March

v     Choose your college, finalize details with your recruiter, or finalize resume for the workforce

v     Work hard through the end of the year…colleges and recruiters will be looking and every credit counts!

 

 

**Remember, throughout the post-high school planning process your academics should remain the focus!  Whether you choose college, the military, or the work force, your work ethic in high school will prepare you for your next stage of life**
