Dear Parents and Community Members:

While working with the Board of Education and then with the Berlin CSD staff, it became apparent that the district needed to define its discussions in a district-wide Vision Statement as we all talk about the district’s future.  Please go to the Berlin Central School web site and click on the Vision Statement.  We would appreciate your comments.

Our Vision Statement defines our Mission as we continue to plan for the future, knowing our current pre-school youngsters will be graduating in the year 2020.  Where will we be in 2010?  Where will we be in 2015?   What changes will have taken place in the world and our regional area?  Education is an institution that needs to plan long term for the clients it now serves and those yet to come to the school buildings.

Our current needs are to make decisions regarding the 2005 building inspection report which calls for a number of areas to be updated and renovated for fire, life, health and safety issues in all buildings.  The school board continues to study the needs; the architect has advanced forward the preliminary information to meet state mandates and codes.  The and the district’s financial advisor will be charged with updating the costs.

As we move through December and January, we will keep you apprised of the on-going planning work.  On behalf of the Board of Education and me, we wish you a joyous holiday season and New Year.

Sincerely,

Charlotte Gregory

Interim Superintendent
