It’s everything she never wanted—
it seems all that she missed
By Shannon D
The swift cool breeze of the night
glided along the hardwood floor
destination: her naked feet
Sending chills up her recently untouched body
shivers;
but not quite the same kind he gave her
[shut the window]
Sliding under the worn covers
scents of him on her pillow case are now just a familiar tease
The aroma is fading;
however the memory will not be washed
She hated sleeping
in the predicted depths
of isolation
[turn over]
Rustling around the sheets calmly but not comfortably
Never up to the
romantically
erotic
motions
of the ruffles that once consumed her underneath
[stop crying]
lonesome eyes search for something
to wipe away the dripping regret.
smearing her makeup
as she rubs them on the pillow

And this would make it the only time
in quite a while
a part of you was there when she cried.
