6th Grade Have you been
wondering what’s been happening in 6th
grade? Well look no further. Let’s dive into Quarter 1 and 2. Do you
like science? Well we’ve done some
pretty cool labs! We’ve done bubble
gum, pennies and measuring liquids to be exact. In math we’ve done some cool projects
including measuring our height and comparing it to those of our group members. We also did a project where we fit gifts
into a box. After, we wrote the total
price of our gifts and what we could send.
In social we have been exploring Ancient Egypt! We had the chance to learn about
Hieroglyphics and then write in them!
Also earlier in the year we made time line line’s of our lives. These projects were so much fun! ELA has been a blast. We wrote stories about building character
and an adventure with King Tut. But not only did we write them, some of us
read them to elementary children!
Right now we are working on literary circle groups. In reading we’ve had our nose in some good
books! One of which is called the Castle in
the Attic, we are
making medieval shields with signs on them that represent ourselves or
family. That about covers our
main subjects but what about music, gym, and art? Well, in music we are mastering the
recorder! In art we drew 1 Point Perspective pictures that are now hanging in
the hall. In computer s we made power
point slide shows titled All About Me. Home and careers has been
cooking up some fun with pumpkin and apple pie, and of course some other
different recipes. In gym we have done
soccer, football, basketball, floor hockey, and now volleyball. These exhilarating sports are so much fun! But did you here our winter concert for
band and chorus? It was super! As was our field trips, one of which where
we went to see The Secret Garden. Well this sadly ends our
journey into 6th
grade! But don’t worry they’ll be more
fun things to come! -Shaylah

7th Grade The 7th Grade is
full of exciting projects and reports that students will have to do for every
class. In 7th Grade
Technology, you will build a bridge made of wood. Then the bridge is built, it will be tested
to see how much weight the bridge holds.
In 7th Grade Art,
you will make a 2-D collage, a negative-positive self-portrait and an
abstract sculpture based on you favorite sculptor or sculptress. In 7th Grade Home Economics, all students
learn to sew. You sew your own winter
hat, a potholder of wall hanging and a pincushion. In 7th Grade Music, you’ll learn how to play
the piano, listen to a student’s suggested son every Friday and you will have
a listening log. In Health, you will
learn about yourself and about CPR. In
Science, you will do the famed Leaf Project.
A lot of your Science grade will depend on this outdoor project. In math class, there is a project each
quarter. The biggest one is probably
the M&M report. In Social Studies
you will have to read a historical fiction book and write a book report about
it every quarter. In English you will
learn about grammar and later write stories or personal narratives. -By Deanna N. |
